Understanding the Inner Man and Spiritual Transformation
Perfection of the Inner Man
"Perfect, perfect," Jesus says, and we declare the same. The inner man, our spirit, is holy. Say it aloud: "Holy, holy!" The inner man is righteous—perfectly righteous, and we affirm, "Righteous, righteous!" The Bible says, "I am the righteousness of God in Christ." This refers to our spirit man, not the soul or body. Repeat after me:
- My spirit man is the righteousness of God.
- My spirit man is the wisdom of God.
- My spirit man is the life of God.
- My spirit man is holy, perfect, and complete.
When you're born again, God takes the old man out and puts a new man in. This inner man is created to be just like Jesus, but the soul and body need time to catch up to this transformation.
Transformation Through Confession
The inner man is perfect, but we must work out our salvation by letting this transformation affect our soul and body. Confession is key. As we declare the truth of who we are in Christ, the spirit man takes lordship over the soul and body. Every morning, confess:
- I am the righteousness of God.
- I am more than a conqueror.
- I am rich in Christ.
As you confess these truths, the soul begins to align with the spirit, and the body eventually follows.
Victory Over Sin and the Flesh
The Bible teaches us that we gain lordship over our flesh through confession. As we speak the language of the new man, the spirit takes control over the soul and body. Sin cannot have dominion over us because we are seated in Heavenly places with Christ. Our Christian life begins with rest in what Christ has already done.
Final Victory and the Rapture
We are waiting for the day when the Rapture comes, and our perfected spirit man will rise, leaving behind the body. But even now, in this life, we must know that our inner man is already holy, righteous, and perfect. This is who we are in Christ.
Call to Action
Say this with me:
- I am the righteousness of God.
- I will storm the gates of hell and bring salvation to my loved ones.
- As He is, so am I in this world.
Let the confession of your spirit transform your soul and body. Storm the gates of hell with the power of God's Word, and walk in the victory Christ has already secured for you.
Walking Victoriously in Jesus from Our Position
Understanding Our Position in Christ
In this message, we are reminded of the importance of knowing who we are in Jesus. When we truly understand our position in Christ, it transforms our Christian life, making it victorious. From this place of understanding, we can walk confidently with God and experience the joy of the Lord increasing in our lives. The Christian life, though challenging at times, is not meant to be complicated. It is about allowing Jesus to finish the work He already completed on the cross.
Jesus declared, “It is finished” on Calvary, not "to be continued." The work has been done, and our role is to let Him finish that work in us. When we understand this truth, everything changes, and our faith soars.
The Importance of Three Areas: Position, Life, and Warfare
For a strong Christian life, we need to focus on three key areas:
- Position – Knowing that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ.
- Life – Walking from this seated position in Christ.
- Warfare – Standing firm against the enemy from this place of victory.
The book of Ephesians outlines these three areas beautifully. In chapters 1 to 3, we see our position in Christ. Chapters 4 and 5 talk about our walk in this position, and chapter 6 discusses warfare, standing firm against the devil.
Seated with Christ: Our Position
The Christian life begins from a seated position in heavenly places with Jesus, as described in Ephesians 1:17-21. Paul prays that we may receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation to understand our calling and the power that raised Christ from the dead, which now raises us to new life in Him. We are seated with Him in heavenly places, and from this position of rest, all blessings flow.
Walking and Warfare from a Seated Position
In Ephesians 4:1, Paul urges us to walk worthy of our calling, which can only be done when we understand our position in Christ. Similarly, spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6 is not about going to the front lines to fight. Instead, it is about standing firm in the victory that Jesus has already won, from a seated position in heavenly places.
We do not need to work for our blessings; they are already ours in Christ. Walking in Christ is a result of being seated with Him. Every triumph and victory in our lives comes from understanding this truth.
Resting in the Finished Work of Christ
Christianity is about resting in the finished work of Christ. We grow and advance in our walk with God when we rest in Him. As Isaiah 30:15 says, “In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
From the beginning, God created Adam on the Sabbath to teach us the importance of rest. It is a lesson we must learn—spiritual growth and victory come when we cease striving and trust God to carry us.
Conclusion: Living in Victory
To live victoriously, we must first rest in the position God has given us. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ, and all blessings, spiritual and otherwise, flow from this place of rest. The Christian life is not about trying harder but about yielding—surrendering to Jesus and allowing Him to complete the work in us.
As we rest in Him, we walk in His power, stand firm in spiritual warfare, and see His blessings flow abundantly in our lives. Let go of striving and rest in the truth that it is finished.
Victory in Christ: Rest, Walk, and Stand
Rest in Christ's Finished Work:
- We first rest in what Christ has done for us.
- When seated, we hold authority.
- Resting in Christ’s victory is foundational.
Walk with Him:
- After resting, we walk with Him, united in His purpose.
- Our walk is grounded in His Word and His victory.
Stand in His Victory:
- Standing means holding our ground in the victory He has already won.
- We are not called to invade new territory but to defend the ground that is already ours.
- The war is defensive, not offensive. Christ has already won the offensive battle for us.
Spiritual Warfare: Defensive, Not Offensive
Stand Firm:
- Ephesians 6 emphasizes the importance of standing.
- Stand in the truth of God's Word and hold on to the victory already won.
- Don’t fight to gain victory; fight from the position of already having victory.
Seated in Authority:
- We fight from a seated position, which signifies authority.
- Christ won the victory; we maintain it by standing firm.
- From this position, we resist the devil and stand in our already-won victory.
Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18
- Truth: Gird your loins with truth.
- Righteousness: Put on the breastplate of righteousness.
- Peace: Be prepared with the gospel of peace.
- Faith: Take up the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the enemy.
- Salvation: Wear the helmet of salvation to guard your mind.
- Word of God: The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.
Each piece of armor is tied to the Word of God—it protects our mind, heart, walk, and speech. The shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit equip us for standing in victory.
Spiritual Warfare Through Prayer
- Praying in the Spirit: Ephesians 6 also calls for continuous prayer in the Spirit.
- Yielding to God: Our responsibility is to furnish ourselves as vessels for God to use.
